Philosophy
Freedom within limits provides the strongest structure within which a child’s optimal and natural psychological, physical, and social development can be achieved.
Values
Independence, Compassion, Humility, Gratitude, Love of Learning & Peace.
Character
Interdependency and self-reliance work hand-in-hand; our students learn mastery of both.
The Community
The initial response from Salado to the announcement of our vision has been one of gratitude, strong support, and excitement. Parents of unborn children have already committed their babies and those with children on the upper end of the age range are doing everything they can to prepare their children for successful integration into our new class.
When will the school open?
The first day of school will be August 7, 2017
What will the school’s legal structure be?
Salado Montessori is currently registering with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) corporation, and is incorporated as a Texas Not for Profit company.
How is Salado Montessori funded?
Salado Montessori is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) non-profit profit institution. Initial startup funding has been provided through personal contributions by our Board of Directors. Long-term funding will come from tuition and donations. Our goal is to keep debt to a minimum.
Will there be scholarships?
Salado Montessori will establish a fund to provide financial assistance to families who would not otherwise consider the application for enrollment. Our goal is to make this available no later than 2020. We also work to help businesses sponsor students' tuition.
How is Salado Montessori accredited?
‘Montessori’ refers to a method of education and a philosophy of life. It is not a copyright-protected name or a franchising program. Our teachers hold either an Association Montessori International (AMI) or American Montessori Society (AMS) credential. Salado Montessori may apply for affiliation with the American Montessori Society once it has been in operation for a full school year. To ensure continued affiliation through the American Montessori Society and to gain an intimate understanding of the method and philosophy, Alissa McClure will complete the Montessori teacher certification as well, though her primary role will be to serve as the school administrator. Salado Montessori will also gain accreditation through the National Council of Private Schools.
What services will the school offer?
The school will be structured in the traditional Montessori multi-age classrooms with a Primary (2 ½ - 6) classroom opening August 7, 2017. If interest from our parents persists, we will expand to include a Lower Elementary (6 - 9) by 2019.
What is your long term vision?
To provide excellent Montessori education for children ages 2 to 15 by 2030.
